Racewalking in the News
NOTC Racewalking Coordinator Pat Driscoll is interviewed in the article Athletes take racewalking in stride, published Sunday, October 27, on The New Orleans Advocate web site.
Welcome back for my second note. I have been given the suggestion to rebrand these as "Fireside Chats with the President." I have taken the idea and intend to embrace it.
So come along, pour yourself a little something to take the edge off another tough day, take a seat as I add another log on the fire, and let's talk some Track Club.
The NOTC sends heartfelt sympathy and prayers for Louis Schultz who passed away last Saturday. Louis was NOTC friendly - dedicated race volunteer and loyal member of the New Orleans Track Club for many years; he also served on the Board of Directors for several terms.
Louis was always there at NOTC races – early before race start time, throughout the race, and way after the finish. All knew Louis – the little guy wearing glasses, an NOTC cap and driving the NOTC truck! He took care of the Course making sure water supplies/volunteers were out at the stops and the Course was clear and marked. Louis loved driving the truck – he was the lead, the pace truck.
We are so grateful and thankful to Louis for giving his time, talent, and efforts to the running/walking community... to the NOTC. He will be sadly missed. May he rest in peace.
