Neither rain, nor sleet nor snow can stop the New Orleans Track Club from running and it did not stop about 550 runners, bands and volunteers from supporting the Tipitina's Foundation last evening at the Tipitina's Rhythm and Blues 5K Run. The event was covered live by WWL-TV and the race was powered by SADER Power.
To ensure the safety of the route the race start was delayed by NOPD until Tchoupitoulas St. was fully secured, but runners were patient and enjoyed performances from costumers and bands while they waited.
Top runners Nick Accardo and Sarah Skotty took the overall awards in 15:48 and 17:18 respectively for the 5K course on Tchoupitoulas. The Youth awards were won by 8 year old Autumn Grieb in 25:29 and 13 year old Tanner Tresca in 20:15. First Masters were Dominique Perrier in 18:30 and Stacey Roberts in 20:17. Grandmasters winners were Van Merceron in 21:13 and Linda Akhter in 23:49. Top Seniors were J. Roger Brown and Cynthia Martin in 21:16 and 30:25. Top racewalker awards went to Pat Driscoll and Reginald Harley in 33:54 and 39:14 respectively.

The Tipitina's Foundation.
The mission of the Tipitina's Foundation is to support Louisiana and New Orleans' irreplaceable music community and preserve the state's unique musical cultures. The history of the Tipitina's Foundation originates from the Tipitina's music venue, a revered New Orleans cultural icon that continues to be instrumental in the development and promotion of Louisiana music around the world. The Foundation works to support childhood music education, the professional development of adult musicians, and the increased profile and viability of Louisiana music as a cultural, educational, and economic resource.
