The sunset on the Mississippi River levee was the perfect setting for the inaugural NOTC Oktoberfest 5K. Close to 200 participants took part in this first year event in conjunction with the Deutsches Haus Oktoberfest. Participants migrated into the Oktoberfest in Rivertown after the race to enjoy the great selection of German beer and brats.
Top runners Sean Allerton and Mary Erin Imwalle took the overall awards in 16:19 and 21:21 respectively. The Youth awards were won by 14-year-old Jack Stogner and 8-year-old Daisy Ohmes. The Masters Division was won by Kenny Mire in 20:33 and Felicia Guidry in 24:16. Grandmasters Division winners were J. Roger Brown in 22:26 and Joy Cohen in 27:24. Top Seniors were Juan Perez in 22:34 and Linda Munn 48:28. Top racewalker awards went to Tank Hainkel and Jane Phelps in 35:36 and 40:41 respectively.
