RRCA Championship Race The 33rd Annual Ole Man River Half Marathon is the 2014 Louisiana RRCA Half Marathon State Championship.

The Half Marathon event records are held by Mike Mullan (1:06:27 in 1984) and Jenni Peters (1:18:06 in 1985). See the event history for all Half Marathon winners.

The Ole Man River Half Marathon and 5K is open to all runners and walkers, NOTC members and nonmembers alike. See below award info for more information on the exciting Holiday Half Marathon Challenge!

7:00 AM – Race-day registration and packet pick-up opens
7:30 AM – Mandatory early start for Half Marathon walkers
8:00 AM – Half Marathon start
8:15 AM – 5K start

Awards

Finishers medals for the Half Marathon only.

Awards will be distributed shortly after the race. There is no duplication of awards: Overall, Youth, Master, Grandmaster, and Senior award winners are not eligible for age group awards.

It is the responsibility of athletes that finish in the awards to note any necessary corrections on race day. If an error is discovered post-race we'll be happy to correct your results and update the website accordingly. However, if you do not inform us of this issue before your award is given out we will no longer have an award to give to you and we can't remake awards.

Holiday Half Marathon Challenge

To complete the Holiday Half Marathon Challenge, participants must run the Big Easy Half Marathon the Sunday before Thanksgiving, November 23rd, then run the Ole Man River Half Marathon the Saturday before Christmas, December 20th. As a reward for completing both 13.1 races, runners will receive an additional Holiday Half Marathon Challenge medallion. Register for both races individually, but be sure to use the same name and contact info for each. This will make you automatically eligible for the Holiday Half Marathon Challenge award when you complete BOTH races. Awards will be distributed at the post-race party for the Ole Man River Half in City Park. Register for the Smoothie King Big Easy Half Marathon HERE.

Timing and Scoring

The races will be electronically timed and scored. You must wear your race bib and D-tag properly to be scored. Your race bib must be worn on the front of your torso and be visible at the finish line. Your D-tag must be worn properly on one of your shoes. See Chronotrack D-Tag Instructions for details.

Preliminary results will be posted at the race site at the conclusion of the race. Full results will be published on the NOTC web site on the morning following the race.

T-Shirts

T-shirt size and availability guaranteed to participants registered by December 1, 2014 only.

T-shirts will be distributed to preregistered entrants on race day beginning at 7:00 AM. Race-day entrants may pick up their shirt after the race while supplies lasts. You must have your official race number with the T-shirt tab to receive a shirt.

Refreshments

Post-race refreshments include food from Zea Rotisserie & Grill, jambalaya from Cook Me Somethin' Mister, Elmer's Chee Wees, Kentwood Springs water, and Pacifico beer from Southern Eagle.

Registration

Registration is open to NOTC members and nonmembers alike. All participants must be registered and wear an official race bib while on the course. Packet pickup will begin at 7:00 AM on race day.

Family registration is available to preregistered NOTC member families only and includes registration for two adults and other family members age 20 and under living in the same household. Separate entry forms are required for each family member. Family registration includes two T-shirts; additional T-shirts are available for family members for $5 each.

Packet Pickup

Prerace packet pick up will be at Southern Runner, 6112 Magazine St, on Wednesday and Thursday, December 17 and 18, from 12:00-6:00 PM. Late registration will be available.

Race-day packet pick up starts at 7:00 AM at the race site.

Headphone Policy

For your safety and the safety of others the NOTC and the RRCA discourage the use of headphones during the running or walking of the event.

Healthy Lifestyle Choices

The Ole Man River Half Marathon benefits Healthy Lifestyle Choices.

HLC supports instruction that benefits the whole child through cognitive, social, emotional and physical learning and advocates for quality health education and physical activity in our local schools. Through its curriculums for children ages 3-14, HLC provides youth with a skill-set to avoid risky behaviors, employ healthy choices before adolescence when many of these behaviors begin and incorporate these principles into their adult lives.
