Finisher medals to the top 500 finishers. T-shirts and goody bags to the first 500 registrants. Come dressed as your favorite musician or band for a chance to win a prize for best costume.

The first 100 people 18 years and older to register will receive a ticket to the post-run show, featuring Bonerama and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. If you miss out on the free ticket you can purchase one here.

Outside festival with food, drink, and live entertainment to follow run on neutral ground outside of Tipitina's venue.

The Tipitina's Foundation Rhythm and Blues 5K Run is open to all runners and walkers, NOTC members and nonmembers alike.

Course

The 5K course runs out and back on Tchoupitoulas Street, going out in the downtown (east-bound) direction. The race start and finish is at Tipitina's Uptown at the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Napoleon Ave.

Awards will be distributed shortly after the race.

Timing and Scoring

The races will be electronically timed and scored. You must wear your race bib and D-tag properly to be scored. Your race bib must be worn on the front of your torso and be visible at the finish line. Your D-tag must be worn properly on one of your shoes. See Chronotrack D-Tag Instructions for details.

Preliminary results will be posted at the race site at the conclusion of the race. Full results will be published on the NOTC web site after the race.

T-Shirts

T-shirts will be distributed to the first 500 registered entrants at early packet pickup and on race day beginning at 4:00 PM. Race-day entrants may pick up their shirt after the race while supplies lasts. You must have your official race number with the T-shirt tab to receive a shirt.

T-shirt size and availability only guaranteed to the first 500 registered entrants.

Refreshments

Pre- and post-race refreshments include Kentwood Springs Water, beer from Crescent Crown Distributing and NOLA Brewery, food from Atchafalaya, Chiba, Deanie's, The Kupcake Factory, P.F. Changs, Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar, Dante's Kitchen, Cafe Giovanni, Cochon Butcher, and Pigeon Caterers.

Registration

Registration is open to NOTC members and nonmembers alike. All participants must be registered and wear an official race bib while on the course.

Entry Fees

Entry fees are non-refundable. Sorry, no exceptions.

  • $25 – NOTC Member registered by September 22, 2013
  • $30 – Nonmember registered by September 22, 2013
  • $20 – Youth (17 and under) registered by September 22, 2013
  • $50 – NOTC Family registered by September 22, 2013
  • $35 – All entrants registered after September 22, 2013

Family registration is available to preregistered NOTC member families only and includes registration for two adults and other family members age 17 and under living in the same household. Separate entry forms are required for each family member. Family registration includes two T-shirts; additional T-shirts are available for family members for $5 each.

Late registration will be available at packet pickup. Race day registration will be available at the race site starting at 4:00 PM. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card. Credit card must be presented.

Packet Pickup

Early packet pickup will be available at Tipitina's Uptown on Thursday, September 26, 3:00-7:00 PM. Draft beer will be available for $1.

Race-day packet pickup will be available at the race site starting at 4:00 PM.

Headphone Policy

For your safety and the safety of others the NOTC and the RRCA discourage the use of headphones during the running or walking of the event.

Tipitina's Foundation

The Tipitina's Foundation Rhythm and Blues 5K Run benefits the Tipitina's Foundation.

Proceeds from 5k Run will go towards purchasing marching shoes and uniforms for New Orleans area school marching band programs. Donate $13 to the Tipitina's Foundation to purchase a single marching shoe for a student or $26 to purchase a pair of marching shoes.
