New Orleans' oldest road race is a 9K (5.6 mile) run from Old Spanish Fort on the banks of Bayou St John to Jackson Square in the historic French Quarter.

The 106th Annual Jackson Day Race is open to all runners and walkers, NOTC members and nonmembers alike.

7:30 AM – Race-day registration and packet pick-up opens
8:30 AM – Race start

Location

Pre-race and race start at the Old Spanish Fort on Beauregard Ave at Robert E Lee Blvd. Post-race at the Steamboat Natchez dock on the Mississippi River.

Parking

Parking will be free at the JAX Brewery lot, 311 Conti (Central Parking). Get your free out sticker for your parking ticket from a race official at the Information Table at the Steamboat Natchez Dock after the race.

Transportation

Transportation by bus from the parking lot to the start beginning at 7:10 AM. The last bus will leave the finish area to get runners to the start of the race at 7:40 AM. After the race, buses will leave the finish area beginning at 9:30 AM and ending at 11:30 AM.

Course

The 9K course starts on Beauregard Ave. at Old Spanish Fort, follows Bayou St. John, and finishes in the French Quarter at Jackson Square.

Three aid stations with Kentwood Springs water will be located on the course. The course will be open until 11:50 AM.

Awards

Awards will be distributed shortly after the race. There is no duplication of awards; Overall, Youth, Master, Grandmaster, and Senior award winners are not eligible for Age Group awards.

  • 1st Youth Male and Female (15-Under)
  • 1st Master Male and Female (40-Over)
  • 1st Grandmaster Male and Female (50-Over)
  • 1st Senior Male and Female (60-Over)
  • 1st and 2nd Male and Female Age Groups (15-Under through 80-over in five-year age groups)
  • 1st-3rd Overall Racewalker Male and Female

Timing and Scoring

The races will be electronically timed and scored. You must wear your race bib and D-tag properly to be scored. Your race bib must be worn on the front of your torso and be visible at the finish line. Your D-tag must be worn properly on one of your shoes. See Chronotrack D-Tag Instructions for details.

Preliminary results will be posted at the race site at the conclusion of the race. Full results will be published on the NOTC web site on the morning following the race.

T-Shirts

T-shirts will be distributed to preregistered entrants at early packet pickup and on race day at the end of the race. Race-day entrants may pick up their shirt after the end of the race while supplies lasts. You must have your official race number with the T-shirt tab to receive a shirt.

Post-race refreshments include Kentwood Springs Water and beer provided by Crescent Crown Distributing

Registration

Registration is open to NOTC members and nonmembers alike. All participants must be registered and wear an official race bib while on the course.

Pre-registered participants are encouraged to pick up their race packet at early Packet Pickup. Race day packet pickup will begin at 7:30 AM on race day.

    • $50 – Registered by December 28, 2012
    • No late family registration will be available.

Family registration is available to preregistered NOTC member families only and includes registration for two adults and other family members age 17 and under living in the same household. Separate entry forms are required for each family member. Family registration includes two T-shirts; additional T-shirts are available for family members for $5 each.

Race day registration will be available at the race site starting at 7:30 AM. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card. Credit card must be presented.

Packet Pickup

Skip the lines on race day by picking up your race packet early. Packet pickup will be available at Southern Runner Sports, 6112 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA (504-891-9999) on Saturday, January 5, from 10 AM until 5 PM.

Race-day packet pickup will open at 7:30 AM at the race site.

Headphone Policy

For your safety and the safety of others the NOTC and the RRCA discourage the use of headphones during the running or walking of the event.
