Several club members participated in the Snickers Energy Bar Marathon or Half-Marathon held Saturday, March 7, 2009 in Albany, GA, with the following results: Andre Olivier, 3:10:00 (Marathon, 3rd in age group); Marianne Garvey, 3:52:11 (Marathon, 2nd in age group); Pam Congemi, 3:52:11 (Marathon, 5th in age group); Carleton Smith, 1:38:13 (Half-Marathon, 1st in age group); and Scott Muller, 1:38:00 (Half-Marathon, 4th in age group).
The 32nd Annual Azalea Trail Run, held Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Mobile, AL, was attended by hundreds of runners from Louisiana. The ATR Race Director in association with host club the Port City Pacers should be credited for a good call in delaying the start by 1-1/2 hours due to heavy rains and flooding during the early morning hours prior to the race. At 9:30 AM the event went off.
In the team divisions the NOTC women's team captured first place. Team members were Santilla Victorian, Kelly Nicholas, Heidi Howe and Jennifer Brizzolara. Mobile's Team Spiridon took 2nd place, followed by New Orleans Catch-22 (Megan Broussard, Colleen Millegan and Lisa Luongo) in 3rd place, the Gulf Coast Running Club 4th and Catch 22 in 5th with (Kimaree Long, Mary Rome and Karah Lindbergh). In the men's division Mobile's Team Spiridon captured first with the NOTC Men's team a close 2nd. The NOTC team members were Brendan Minihan, Jr., Sean Fitzwilliam, Sean Allerton and Don Quintana. Mobile-Team Spirdon took third, followed by the Gulf Coast Running Club 4th and Catch 22 in 5th (Jace Gohres, Bill Plunkett, Doug Holmes).

Monica Embers is presented the "Terry Turner Founder's Cup Award" by NOTC President Aaron Boudreaux. The award is presented to the 1st NOTC Member Male and Female finishers in the New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon. Mr. Turner was a founding member of the club and our first President.

The NOTC Scholarship Grant committee presented checks for $1000 each to Alexandra Grieb and Hope Phelps at the August 22nd NOTC Anniversary Race. Grieb will be going to Brown University in Providence, RI and will be in pre-med. Phelps is heading to LSU for an English Major and is planning to run on the track team. The committee members were Mary Stadler, Dudley Stadler, Geoff Rose, and Joy Cohen.
The New Orleans Track Club competed in the 2009 Hood to Coast Relay race held
the weekend of August 28, 29 & 30. The NOTC team competed in the mixed open
division and placed 53rd overall out of 1004 teams and 11th in their division
with a finish time of 22:56:33. The race is 197 mile relay race starting at
Timberline Lodge atop Mt. Hood east of Portland, Oregon and finishing on the
beach in Seaside, Oregon at the Pacific ocean.

Marathon Makeover Marathon, Ridgeland, MS, October 17, 2009. Two of the south's premier masters age division runners took 1st and 2nd place overall, Leonard Vergunst, 1st overall 2:55:14 (age 54) and Jim George 2nd overall at 2:56:51 (age 51). Other south Louisiana finishers in the marathon included: Mark Aylor, 4:46:59; Jason Graffeo, 7:22:27.
In the Half-Marathon former New Orleans resident Heidi Howe took 2nd overall female at 1:33:28. Kyle Lewis from south Mississppi (a frequent runner in area races) won the Half-Marathon with a fast 1:08:38 time.
